The purpose of this project is to bring awareness to area business leaders on how easy it is to incorporate corporate social responsibility into their businesses. This will include an introduction about what CSR is, what is included under that umbrella with examples, why it’s important to think about, and how implementing some simple strategies can increase company morale, boost engagement, and increase profits. The COVID-19 pandemic and social injustices for George Floyd and Brianna Taylor have changed the modern workforce. Companies are offering hybrid work models, and increasing salaries but are missing a key component, people are looking for value-aligned workplaces with a strong community presence. They want companies that take a stance on social issues whether that be its people, environment, or the community at large. Now is the time for companies to include CSR in their business models and this workshop will teach companies how to do just that.
My name is Gina Burke and I currently work at Red River where I run Corporate & Community Engagement and lead their volunteer program and CSR team- InspiRED, I have been there 15 years. I am getting my master’s degree at Merrimack College in Community Engagement and this project will help me complete my capstone on corporate social responsibility. I believe that all businesses should be making a social impact and my hope is that this workshop launches into consultant work on the topic. I have led volunteer groups as large as 650 and love to watch a volunteer day unfold not only for the organization, we are supporting but for the group putting in the work.
